The PF-9 rosette is named in honor of Paul Fletcher, the originator of the idea for the MDF rose engine lathe (and one of his favorite rosettes).

Aspect Value Comments
Pattern Alternating convex and concave curves
Pattern Repeated 9 times
Target Diameter
for Rosette Design
2”
  • A smaller diameter on the object results in surfaces which have sharper curves at the apexes of the curves.

  • A larger diameter on the object reverses this.

  • An amplitude adjuster can be used to modify these effects.
Phasing Holes 1/8 lobe
Works For End Cutting Near side cutting
Far side cutting, or using rear rubber column
Side Cutting Near side cutting
Far side cutting, or using rear rubber column
When using this for fluting, the use of an amplitude adjuster can help make a very design.
Complementary Rosettes

If you do want to pair it with another rosette, consider pairing it with one of these.
